Cost for the event is $90/person, if one requires transportation from the ABQ Sunport, the cost is $95. If a staff member desires a "staff" ball cap, add an additional $5.00.
Seniors: Submit a CAPF 17 with your t-shirt size and with a check made out to "NMW Encampment" for $90. If you desire a ball cap with your rank, add $5.00.
To apply for a staff position, submit a CAPF 31 with the word "STAFF" written across the top of the form. Instead of a picture, write in your t-shirt size. You must submit a check made out to "NMW Encampment" with your application. Tryouts for the designated staff positions will be conducted on Saturday, Jun 6. Those cadets who do not meet the requirements for the staff positions will be given the opportunity to participate in a leadership training course. Basics must also submit a CAPF 31, with t-shirt size instead of a picture AND a check attached. Deadline for ALL applications is April 30. Parents are invited to attend the Friday morning (0900) Pass in Review. If a parent desires to attend, they must RSVP to Maj Bracken with car description & license number NLT the report time of Jun 7. All drivers must have a valid drivers license, proof of insurance and vehicle registration in order to drive on base. Parents who attend may also drive their cadet home from the encampment.
STAFF POSITIONS:
Cadet
Commander (Preferred Minimum Grade: C/CAPT)
The
commander of the NM Encampment is responsible for the implementation and conduct
of the encampment program as prescribed by National Headquarters. He/she is
responsible to the Commandant of Cadets or his designated representative for the
overall encampment program. The Commandant of Cadets is the senior advisor to
the Cadet Commander regarding specific encampments.
Responsibilities:
Provides
focus and direction to the officers of the NM Encampment, to insure proper
implementation of the encampment program.
Assists
in the selection of qualified senior cadets for service at the group staff
level.
The
maintenance and consistency of training standards throughout the wing
encampment program.
Serve
as a role model and example for all the members of the Cadet Training Group.
Provides
counseling services when appropriate.
Provide
an appropriate forum for feedback and criticism of the encampment program.
Fostering
cohesiveness, teamwork and unity of purpose within the unit thereby creating
the Cadet Training Group.
Examples
of tasks:
In
consultation with appropriate senior staff, the selection of the Cadet
Deputy Commander and the Cadet Executive Officer.
Approval
of the Cadet SOP and it’s supplement(s) for each encampment.
Conducts
the pass and review along with final inspection for the NM Encampment.
In
consultation with appropriate senior staff, supervises the creation and
content of the encampment schedule.
Conducts
the post-encampment critique.
CADET EXECUTIVE STAFF
Cadet
Deputy Cadet Commander
Preferred Minimum Grade: C/1LT Position Description: Responsible for
coordinating and implementing the encampment training and overseeing the
performance of all cadet line personnel. He/She will ensure adherence to the
cadet training schedule, work with the Squadron Commanders, and counsel staff
members when needed. He/She will work on other duties as assigned by the Cadet
Commander.
Cadet Executive Officer
Preferred Minimum Grade: C/2LT
Position Description: Responsible for coordinating the cadet administration,
logistics, and public affairs activities of the encampment and supervising the
cadet support staff. Assigns tasks and ensure proper conduct and progress of
their staff. He/She will work on other duties as assigned by the Cadet
Commander.
Cadet
Inspector General and Cadet Standardization and Evaluation Officer/NCO
Preferred Minimum Grade: C/CPT and
Officer: C/2LT; NCO: C/MSgt
Position Description: Responsible for conducting all aspects of encampment
evaluation and ensuring training standardization. Conducts regular uniform and
barracks inspections, set standards, and ensure that improvement is made daily.
The SEO is the Cadet Commander's representative while conducting inspections,
though the Cadet Commander will still examine the state of training from time to
time. Pays special attention to flight drill to enforce standardization among
flights. The SEO acts as a reference for uniform, drill, and barracks questions.
He/She will work on other duties as assigned by the Cadet Commander.
Command Chief Master Sergeant
Grade: C/CMSgt
Position Description: This cadet will be the ideal of what discipline and hard
work can be. This position should demonstrate perfection in uniform wear,
customs and courtesies, and military bearing. Responsible for supervising all
NCO activities. He/She will serve as the highest level of the NCO chain of
command and will work with the first sergeants to organize and coordinate the
daily physical training and sports games. He/she will also work with command
staff on other duties as assigned.
CADET LINE STAFF
Squadron Commander
Preferred Minimum Grade: C/Capt
Position Description: Responsible for the standardization, discipline, and
enforcement of training for two to three flights. Applicants need to be
organized, responsible and have a good command presence. Provides advice and
counseling to flight leaders, particularly assisting Flight Commanders to
correct discrepancies. Referees sports and assists with inspections. He/She will
work on other duties as assigned by the Cadet Deputy Commander.
Flight Commander
Preferred Minimum Grade: C/2LT NCO:
C/MSGT
Position Description: Responsible for the training of their flight. Applicants
should be proficient at drill and ceremonies, customs and courtesies, basic
regulations applicable to cadets, and have a good command presence. He/She will
work with their Flight Sergeant to motivate and foster teamwork within their
flight, as well as have accountability of flight members at all times.
First Sergeant
Preferred Minimum Grade: C/MSgt
Position Description: This cadet will be the ideal of what discipline and hard
work can be. This position should demonstrate perfection in uniform wear,
customs and courtesies, and military bearing. Responsible for assisting the
squadron commander in standardization, discipline, and enforcement of training
for two to three flights. Ensures that flight sergeants are familiar with their
duties and will correct discrepancies. Duties will include organizing and
coordinating the daily physical training and sports games, asking questions
during mess, and assisting with inspections.
Flight Sergeant
Preferred Minimum Grade: C/SSgt
Position Description: Responsible for the teaching and instructing of the flight
and for any other duties assigned them by the flight commander. Applicants
should be proficient at drill and ceremonies, customs and courtesies, basic
regulations applicable to cadets, and have a good command presence. Train the
flight to a measurable proficiency level of drill and customs and courtesies.
Works with their Flight Commander to motivate and foster teamwork within their
flight, as well as have accountability of flight members at all times. He/She
will work directly with the cadets in their flight.
CADET
SUPPORT STAFF
Cadet Administration Officer/NCO
Preferred Minimum Grade: C/SSgt
Position Description: Responsible for organizing cadet in- and out-processing,
maintaining the Call to Quarters and Kitchen Patrol schedules, creating award
certificates and graduation packets, and working with the Logistics Officer to
plan the final banquet. Assists the Senior Administration Officer with all
paperwork during encampment. Applicants should be organized and familiar with
computers. He/She will also perform duties as assigned by the Cadet Executive
Officer.
Cadet Logistics Officer/NCO
Preferred Minimum Grade: C/SSgt
Position Description: Responsible for all logistics at encampment. Applicants
should be energetic, organized, and able to multi-task and be flexible. Assists
with cadet in-processing, ensure cadets are equipped with necessary bedding and
uniform items. Communicate with seniors, flight leaders, and executive staff to
determine supply needs. With the help of the Administration Officer, this
position will plan the final banquet. He/She will also perform duties as
assigned by the Cadet Executive Officer.
Cadet Public Affairs Officer/NCO
Preferred Minimum Grade: C/SrA
Position Description: Responsible for the daily newspaper, taking pictures or
videos, creating the encampment slide show or video, writing news releases for
cadets to take home, and contacting local media. Applicants should be familiar
with digital photography and computers, particularly Microsoft Word. The
applicant should also be able to write well. He/She will also perform duties as
assigned by the Cadet Executive Officer.
Cadet Medical Officer/NCO
Preferred Minimum Grade: C/TSgt
Position Description: Responsible for the basic medical care of the encampment.
Applicants should be certified in CPR, First Aid and higher qualifications of
medical care. The Medical Officer should be organized, responsible and be able
to remain calm in stressful situations. Provides safety briefings to cadets
concerning hydration, blisters, etc. He/She will work primarily with the Medical
Officer, but also perform duties as assigned by the Cadet Executive Officer.
